Anu originally teamed up with Lisa Honan CBE to present A London Lark Rising as a dramatised walking tour in the City of London. For 2026, the performance has been developed into a fully immersive theatre experience.
“Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time walking and cycling through the back streets of the City and I was always aware of the history of the place but I didn’t feel it was being taught in schools. I wanted to find a way to weave together Indian and British history in a way that was engaging, entertaining but also thought-provoking and so the idea of A London Lark Rising was born.
I always envisioned it as not simply a play on a stage but something mobile which moves around the City. I love that we keep the audiences small because the whole experience feels more personal for everyone that comes to see the show. The audience are part of the drama as well as the actors and, in that way, people feel more engaged in the history and the narrative.”
